NGC 2264: The Cone Nebula in Monoceros

Autoguider: SXV-H9 autoguiding camera
attached to an 8" LX200 OTA
L,Ha,SII,Blue: 60,60,60,15 minutes
for a total of 3 hrs, 15 min
Site: Anza Borrego Desert
Temp: 27 degrees; no wind, average seeing.

The cone lies at the southern edge
the Christmes tree nebula (NGC2264).
Narrow band filters were used to enhance
hydrogen (Ha) and sulfer (SII) gas in this
region. The cone is 2,600 light years away.
