Supernova Remnants
Supernova Remnants (SNR) are shell or filament structures that result from the gigantic explosion of a star in a supernova. The SNR is bounded by an expanding shock wave, and consists of ejected material expanding from the explosion, and the interstellar material it sweeps up and shocks along the way. The material ejected from the exploding star consists largely of hydrogen, helium, oxygen, and other heavier elements.
